In Hermetic Alchemy, Sulfur is the symbol of the strong nuclear force. It is formed from the creative forces of fire and air. Its concept is that of radiance, expansion, warmth, light, and creativity.

It symbolizes absolute and is fiery, bright, and solar. On the earth in the physical plane, Sulphur is described as the fire element.
